Wildlife

With our proximity to the James River and being co-located with a large conservancy area, wildlife abounds at The Vineyards at Jockeys Neck. Deer, fox and birds of all kinds are common sights here and our 2 lakes are home to numerous species of fish, freshwater muscles, crayfish, frogs, turtles as well as visiting river otters!

Perhaps the most varied wildlife group is the birds; from the tiny Humming birds and Blue birds, to migratory waterfowl including Buffelhead and Merganser ducks to birds of prey like the Bald Eagle, Osprey and ever-vocal Owls – sightings are daily! We also have resident Great Herons, Egret and Bitterns in our lakes which are very uplifting to see.
